iPods Cheap To Build In China

Did you know that for ever $299 iPod put together in China, the cost of assembly for Apple is only $4, and Apple makes $80 profit each? That's not a bad money maker, is it! Cheap iPods never sounded so good before!
Per How much money goes to China for every China assembled ipod, here are the figures from an upcoming TedKoppel special on the Discovery Channel.
Here is a breakdown of the costs:
Hard drive (Toshiba) $73
Display module $20
Processor $8
Contoller chip $5
Distribution costs $75
China assembly cost $4
Apple’s Profit $80
The special, "Koppel on Discovery: The People's Republic of Capitalism" will air July 9th on the Discovery Channel and should be a pretty interesting thing to watch.
